yellow
Yellow has always been my favorite color.
As a kid, yellow was the color of sunshine and daisies and bananas and Big Bird. I loved the brightness and hope that yellow communicates. When I visited New York City for the first time at the age of three, it was no surprise that I became obsessed with the multitude of yellow cars filling the busy streets and decided that I had to own one someday. While my friends dreamt of becoming ballerinas or movie stars, I aspired to be a taxi driver. I thought it would be the most wonderful thing in the world to have a job driving a yellow car around the magical city of New York.
To this day, yellow continues to bring me joy. It reminds me of so many wonderful memories—from picking the lantana flowers that grow in my backyard to riding in a New York taxi cab.
